In today's dramatic event-filled world, psychotherapy - more than ever before - must draw on the historical and philosophical understanding of ethics and values to achieve its goals in society. Psychologists must constantly gain new insights into the role of ethics and values in the development of our social cognition. They need to consider how these insights can be applied in psychotherapy and how they can develop basic guidelines and principles.
